At the close of the first decade of the 21st century, almost thousands of crowdfundings had spread throughout the world. We carefully studied many of these mutual aid models; the filmmaker Pablo de la Barra advised us to evaluate the model of the Kickstarter platform, which had just been launched in 2009. Our investigation concluded in 2012 convincing us that these self-help platforms were very good, however, few help you to order an incipient business idea which leaves you out of the opportunity to make yourself visible in the investment market.
2013, year of acceleration
At the beginning of this magical year we had a coffee with our friend, physicist and engineer Jorge Guerrero, with whom we came across the first great ideas of the need to help crowdfunding users or applicants to order their business ideas in cooperative mode (between peers). We made various mathematical models that accelerated the maturation of a business plan through the collaborative economy and the creative economy. Our pencils, blackboards and computers began to give interesting results. The collaboration began to fit together in a multidimensional and multifunctional way, generating complex three-dimensional geometric figures that simultaneously supported complex ideas that came together and consolidated as an attractive and sustainable business construction.
In Glenda’s kitchen the first name was born
In October 2013 we presented this project proposal to the state of Connecticut, in the United States, with the hope of establishing the company there for the development of the platform proposal. We received support from various beautiful people to make the trip to Toronto, New York and finally to Naugatuck, among others, from the senior auditor Yajaira Rivera who was one of our most important financial advisors. But the name “Pie of Ideas” arose in the kitchen of our friend, consultant and business ally Glenda Lisko, while we were preparing a pie with the most typical ingredient of the season: pumpkins. That beautiful kitchen witnessed many discussions about crowdfunding models and collaborative economy in general applied to the incubation and acceleration of business ideas, especially in the peer-to-peer construction of them. Pie of Ideas is our great and most direct predecessor, in fact, in our catalog of projects you will find it under the name “Acceleration assistance”, is the most like the one we presented in Connecticut. By the way, the logo was made by a great communicator, Felipe Perez, who gave simplicity and impact to our idea.
